Okay, go easy on me as I'm a writer and not an artist so I can't comment artist-to-artist per se, but I like what I see so here comes the critique <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile)"/>.

I adore the gothic theme. The bright colours of the candle against the darkness of the lantern itself (along with the background) leaves a lasting impression on the mind. A warmth lies within a cage of metal. There's something both comforting and foreboding about this piece, which works wonderfully together.

This is almost photographic! Even though it's digital art, it fools the eye into believing this object is tangible. I'm not sure the wax candle looks entirely realistic but it's not a huge issue, given that the candle is meant to be encased in the lantern and the eye is drawn to the glow of the flame.

The focus and the lighting looks amazing, adding to the realism of the artwork. This could belong in a Victorian mansion or something.

Overall, this is a gorgeous deviation and deserves the praise it receives. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/a/a…" width="15" height="15" alt=":aww:" title="Aww"/> Great work!
